The homework: list the mechanics of this game. List them as primary, secondary, and tertiary.Tomorrow, we will discuss how they create an enjoyable play experience.

Modding Pandemic

We came up with three modifications (mods) for the game Pandemic. The mods are called the MediNuke!, Smooth Operator, and the dreaded Mega Virus!

MediNuke allows players to eliminate all the outbreaks in cities adjacent to their current location. They must choose to sacrifice one player for five rounds in order to do this.

The second mod is the “Smooth Operator”. The Operator player has greater mobility and can build more research stations as a result.

The third mod was the “Super Virus”. If a virus spread from one colored city to another colored city, the resulting virus would be a mutant strain that could only be cured by the “Medic” player.

Hello class. Thanks again for a great first day. I am really excited to be working with you all for the next two weeks.

So, here is your homework for the first day. We played RISK, there were wins, there were losses. There was trash-talking. Your assignment is to think of one way to Mod RISK to make it a collaborative game instead of a competitive one.

We will discuss in the morning.

Each zipped file has the following:
>Content (This folder includes the latest version of the content, listed as game name_update)
>Game (This folder includes a copy of the exe file that they should play before starting a challenge. This folder also includes a final version of the gmk file that the instructor can refer to)
>Mission files (This folder included gmk files by mission for this challenge. These can be helpful for both the instructor or student as a reference)
>Sprites (This folder includes sprites for the game)
>Resource files (These zipped files contain the mission files, sprites and other files needed to make the game)
>Web images (These are the images that need to be added to each step on the site)

You may see other folder based on the game. For example, Solar ball uses sounds, so it also has a sound folder. That folder has been zipped up into the resource files.

As I mentioned earlier, the content for the master level challenge is done, but the screenshots still need to be taken. I am going to start working on the screenshots and see how far I can get here. However, since our days are quite busy here, I will be sending periodic updates to tell you how much progress I have been making.
